Hace unos días conocimos la triste noticia del fallecimiento del guitarrista de VOIVOD, Denis "Piggy" D’Amour, el viernes por la noche. Otra pérdida trágica para el mundo del metal. El staff de Metal Blade envía sus condolencias a su familia, amigos y compañeros de banda Away, Snake y Jasonic.
El trabajo de Piggy con y para VOIVOD no se puede definir en palabras. Él creó un estilo absolutamente original de tocar la guitarra e inspiró a miles de guitarristas con su sonido espacial. Discos como "Killing Technology", "Dimension Hatröss", "Nothingface" o "Negatron" estarán siempre entre mis álbumes favoritos de metal.

Another tragic loss for the world of metal. We at Metal Blade send our condolences to his family, friends and band mates Away, Snake and Jasonic. Piggy´s work with and for VOIVOD is beyond what words can express. He found his own style of shredding the guitar and inspired thousands of others with his spacey sound. I am glad I had the chance to hang out with Piggy and the VOIVOD gang for a night in the late nineties. Piggy was just a nice person and very funny in character. He will be missed! A Brian le fue entregada la cámara de la presentadora, Juliya, y se estaba paseando por el área del segundo escenario entrevistando bandas y fans al azar, cuando alguien le arrancó la toalla que llevaba, dejándolo completamente desnudo. On July 23rd at Ozzfest in Pittsburgh, PA The Black Dahlia Murder guitarist Brian Eschbach was arrested for indecent exposure while filming footage for FUSE TV’s Uranium. Brian was given Uranium host Juliya’s camcorder and was walking around the second stage area interviewing random bands and fans when someone pulled his towel off, which happened to be the only thing he was wearing. The police immediately seized Brian and escorted him away to a holding cell on site where he was detained for about 30minutes before being let go with a citation. Luckily FUSE’s Uranium was onsite and caught everything on camera which will be aired not only on Uranium and Metal Asylum but also on a FUSE special on Ozzfest. BAD WAY no paran de tocar y promocionar su primer disco "From Zero To Hero". Este fin de semana participarán en un festival en Golmes (Lleida) junto a Obus, A Palo Seko, Zero y más bandas. Sábado 30 de Julio en el Polideportivo de Golmes (Lleida). No te los pierdas!!!!!A continuación, el comunicado oficial de AMON AMARTH referente al caótico festival MMS en Croacia: Los antecedentes: A fines de Abril de este año contactaron con nosotros los organizadores del festival MMS de Croacia para tocar allí, con la posibilidad de agregar otro show en Hungría en una fecha cercana al festival. Dado que la organización parecía seria y profesional, aceptamos el trato que nos ofrecían. Fue acordado que los organizadores reservarían y pagarían los tickets de avión de la banda más un técnico de sonido. Al pasar los meses los tickets no llegaban y no había noticias acerca del show en Hungría. Finalmente nos dimos cuenta de que no habría show en Hungría después de todo, y comenzamos a dudar de que los tickets para viajar a Croacia llegarían en algún momento. Lo que sucedió: El Martes 12 recibimos un e-mail de los organizadores con un itinerario de vuelo para nuestra consideración. Según éste, viajaríamos a Croacia el día 14, retornando a casa el 18. Aceptamos el trato, pero la confirmación de los vuelos no llegó hasta el Jueves 13. Decidimos viajar de todas formas y llegamos a Zadar el día 14. El día del festival estábamos sentados en el hotel esperando que alguien relacionado con la organización contactase con nosotros y fuera a buscar con nuestros instrumentos, pero no llegó nadie. Alrededor de las 4pm THERION volvieron del lugar donde se desarrollaba el festival y nos contaron que allá no había energía eléctrica y que ellos iban a cancelar su participación (el comunicado de THERION se puede encontrar bajo el siguiente link: http://main.megatherion.com/kliffoth.html#28). Nosotros seguíamos sin noticias de parte de la organización y nos estábamos preparando para cancelar también. De hecho, alrededor de las 7pm una persona relacionada con la organización (su relación con la organización no estaba clara) nos comunicó que definitivamente todo el festival había sido cancelado. Cerca de las 8pm un fan de AMON AMARTH llamado Gregor nos dijo que había vuelto la electricidad y nos ofreció llevarnos al festival para que pudiéramos tocar, pero seguíamos sin saber del organizador, y no habíamos recibido la totalidad del pago estipulado en el contrato. A pesar de ésto, decidimos que, ya estando allí, tocaríamos para no defraudar a nuestros fans. En el festival había total anarquía, el organizador estaba desaparecido y nadie parecía estar a cargo de nada. Ni siquiera habían conseguido un backline completo, pero gracias a gente que no tenía nada que ver con la organización, pudimos tocar de todas formas. (¡Muchas gracias a la persona que nos prestó un pedal doble!) A fin de cuentas tuvimos un gran show a pesar de todo, y desde el momento en que pisamos el escenario sentimos que habíamos tomado la decisión correcta. ¡Muchas gracias a todos los fans por hacer que fuera un excelente show! AMON AMARTH The following is AMON AMARTH´s official statement concerning the chaotic MMS Festival in Croatia: Background: End of April this year, we were contacted by the organizers of MMS festival in Croatia to play at the MMS festival and possibly do a bonus show in Hungary in connection to this festival. As the organisation seemd serious and professional, we accepted the deal they had for us. It was agreed that the organizer was to book and pay for the plane tickets, for the band plus sound engineer. As the months went along, no tickets turned up and there was no news on the Hungarian show. Eventually, we realized that there wasn´t going to be a Hungarian show at all, and we were beginning to doubt whether there would be any tickets for us to fly down to Croatia. What happened: On Tuesday the 12th we recieved an e-mail from the organizers, containing a flight itenerary for us to consider. This itenerary was for us to fly down to Croatia on the 14th, and fly home on the 18th. We accepted this deal, but didn´t get the confimation for the tickets until late on Thursday the 13th. None the less we decided to fly down, and we arrived in Zadar on the 14th. The day of the festival we were sitting at the hotel waiting for someone from the festival to contact us and pick us up with our gear but we didn´t hear anything at all. Around 4pm THERION came back from the festival site and told us there was no power at the festival and that they were going to cancel (THERION´s statement on the following link http://main.megatherion.com/kliffoth.html#28). We still didn´t hear anything from the organization of the festival and were getting set to also cancel the show. Indeed, at around 7pm a person involved in the organization (in a way that wasn´t entirely clear to us) told us that the whole festival was definitely cancelled. Around 8pm an AMON AMARTH fan called Gregor, told us the power was back and he offered to drive us to the festival so that we could play, but we still hadn´t heard anything from the promoter, and we had not received our full payment, which was agreed in the contract. In spite of this, we decided that since we were there to play and we didn´t want to disappoint our fans, that we´d go for it. At the festival site it was full anarchy, the organizer was still nowhere to be seen, and no one seemed to be in charge anywhere. They hadn´t even provided a full backline, but thanks to people not involved in the organization we were able to play! (A big thanks to the guy lending us a double feet pedal!) Still, at the end of the day we did have a great show, and the minute we stepped up on stage we felt it was the right decision for us to play. A big thanks to all you fans for making this show a great one! You made the trip and all the ordeals that came with it worth while. Thank you! AMON AMARTH
